CE Mark

Glossary of Terms

A CE mark is a mandatory conformity mark used within the European Union to state that the manufacturer has ensured the product conforms to the requirements of applicable European Conformity directives. CE mark is commonly used in measuring devices and glassware to state it conforms to the measure stated on the glass. UK licensing laws state that certain alcoholic beverages must be served using a CE marked measure when sold in units of less than a bottle. CE marking has mostly replaced government stamped glassware marking in the UK since 2007.

What does CE stand for?

In English, CE stands for European Conformity, deriving from the French Conformité Européenne (CE).
